Overview

If the BudgetLink has problem connecting to your MYOB AccountRight Live data file, the first step is determining if you installed MYOB using the PC or Server installer as the API runs slightly differently depending on which installer you used.

In the case of the PC installation, the API should automatically start when starting your MYOB AccountRight Live software.

In the case of the Server installation, the API is actually a windows service which should start when starting the machine.

How to confirm if MYOB AccountRight Live was installed using the PC or Server Installation

To confirm if MYOB AccountRight Live was installed using the PC or Server Installation, follow these steps.

  1. Find the MYOB Shortcut on your desktop and select it (do not run it);
  2. Right-click on it and select Properties;
  3. In the Shortcut tab, check the Start In value.

If the Start in value begins with C:\Users\..., you most likely installed the PC installation.

If the Start in value begins with C:\Documents and Settings\..., you most likely installed the PC installation.

If the Start in value begins with C:\Program Files\ or C:\Program Files (x86)\, you most likely used the SERVER installation.
