Overview

MYOB has introduced mandatory API security changes known as scopes that will be enforced from 1st March 2026.

These changes require updated application permissions when connecting to MYOB company file(s) stored in the cloud.

ExcelReportLink users whose MYOB data file(s) are stored on a local computer or a server on their network will not be affected and do not need to take any action.

For users with a cloud-hosted MYOB company file, older versions of ExcelReportLink do not support the new scope requirements and will no longer connect to MYOB after 1 March 2026.

To continue using ExcelReportLink with MYOB, you must:

  1. Upgrade to the latest ExcelReportLink release.
  2. Reauthorise your MYOB company files after upgrading.

Steps to Upgrade ExcelReportLink to the latest version

To upgrade to the latest version,

  1. Open ExcelReportLink , Go to Menu and click on Upgrade button situated beside "Get Data" button.
  2. Download the new version and follow the installation steps to upgrade to the latest version.

Reauthorise MYOB Company File

After upgrading, the MYOB company files must be reconnected for ExcelReportLink to work with the new security model.

Deadline

This must be completed before 1 March 2026 to avoid loss of connectivity.

Most post-upgrade issues are caused by environment or system configuration factors rather than the application itself. Common causes include:
