Overview

If you have a new machine (PC) or wish to hand over BudgetLink operations to another person, the first step is to locate the BudgetLink Folder of your current version

If its installed on a shared folder on your file server then you dont need to do anything apart from navigate to that folder from the new PC and run the BudgetLink.exe. The first time its run from that new location a setup wizard will start to capture setup instructions.

If its located on your local PC then you need to move that copy to your new machine rather than install a new version of BudgetLink. To move BudgetLink, cut and paste the BudgetLink Folder to the new location.

If you do require BudgetLink to be shared with an additional users then either move BudgetLink Folder to a shared folder on your file server or if you dont have a Server move it to DropBox or OneDrive or SharePoint.

If you dont have access the copy of BudgetLink on the old machine then you will need to install a new version of BudgetLink and set it up from scratch

Here are the steps to move BudgetLink from one local hard drive to a new machine or shared folder

Procedure

  1. Locate the existing BudgetLink Folder;
  2. Cut (or Copy) and paste it to the new location;
  3. Enable user access to BudgetLink folders
  4. Start BudgetLink in the new location by double clicking the BudgetLink.exe file. It's located in the BudgetLink Folder;
  5. A New User Setup Wizard will start.

BudgetLink should now be useable on the new machine. Be mindful you may need to update your data connection. See Changing how BudgetLink connects to your data file for more information.
