== Overview ==

The defult number of records retrieved per page for MYOB AcccountRight Live is 400. This generally works fine however if you have many lines on invoices it may cause the MYOB API server to time out. If thats the case you will see a time out errer in the Get Data Log. To resolve that issue reduce the number of records from 400 to 100 and try the Get Data again.

== How to reduce the number or records per page for MYOB AccountRight Live to 100==

[[File:MYOBAccountRightLiveOptions.png|300px|thumb|right|MYOB AccountRight Live Options]]

# Start '''ODBClink''';
# From the Menu screen, click on '''Settings''' tab in Excel's ribbon;
# Find the '''Options''' section and click the '''Set User Options''' button;
# Select '''MYOB AccountRight Live''' options from the dialogue;
# Edit the Records Per Page field to be 100;
# Click '''Save''' and '''Close''';
# Run the '''Get Data''' process.

=== Notes ===

* If the get data fails due to maximum number of connections reached, increasing the number of records per page can help.

* We recommend making the number of records per page a multiple of 100 (e.g. 100, 200, 300). '''IT MUST''' be a number between 100 and 1000.
Since September 2020 the MYOB API server has been returning server errors intermittently for some data files

Upon investigation we found that this occurs when returning a list of data files in xml format. The error does not occur when extracting the data in jsn format
The latest version of BudgetLink gets around the issue by extracting the list of data files in jsn format

Jeff:

== Overview ==

If you have ODBClink on a Server which is decommissioned and wish to move it to a new one or its installed on a PC and you will need to use it from another then follow the instructions below to move ODBClink

The first step is to work out where ODBClink is installed. The default path is C:\ODBClink for a PC. If not sure you can locate the path by tracing the shortcut on your desktop.

If its installed on a shared folder on your server and your new PC is located in the office then all you need to do is navigate to that folder from the new PC and run the ODBClink.exe from the new PC. The first time its run from that new location a setup wizard will start to capture setup instructions.

If located on your local PC then you need to move that copy to your new machine rather than install a new version of ODBClink. To move ODBClink, cut and paste the [[ODBClink Folder]] to the new location.

If you require ODBClink to be shared with an additional user then move the [[ODBClink Folder]] to a shared folder.

If you require access to ODBClink from multiple PC's not connected to the office then move the [[ODBClink Folder]] to a [[Syncronised Folder]]

Here are the steps to move ODBClink from one location to another

== Procedure ==

[[File:MoveBudgetLinkWelcomeWindow.png|300px|thumb|right|ODBClink welcome dialogue]]
[[File:MoveBudgetLinkRegistrationKeyDialogue.png|300px|thumb|right|Registration key dialogue]]

# Locate the existing [[ODBClink Folder]];
# Cut (or Copy) and paste it to the new location;
# Enable user access to ODBClink folders
# Start ODBClink in the new location by double clicking the BudgetLink.exe file within the [[ODBClink Folder]];
A New User Setup Wizard will start.

ODBClink should now be useable on the new machine. Be mindful you may need to update your data connection. See [[Changing how ODBClink connects to your data file]] for more information.

== Overview ==

This article assists '''existing users''' upgrading ODBClink to the latest version.

If you are a '''new user''' and wish to install ODBClink, see [[Installing ODBClink]] instead.

ODBClink's upgrade process transfers any settings from your old installation to the new one. If you have custom solutions or reports, they will be transferred during the process. Note that you may also need to configure ODBClink for any new features.

To upgrade to the latest version follow the steps below.

== Upgrading ODBClink ==

[[File:InstallODBClink.png|300px|thumb|right|Unzip ODBClink]]
[[File:InstallODBClinkWelcome.png |300px|thumb|right|Accept the EULA]]
[[File:InstallODBClinkUpgradeFinal.png |300px|thumb|right|Start ODBClink]]

# Start ODBClink;
# Click the '''Upgrade''' button on the menu to see if a new version of ODBClink is available;
# From the website, [[Downloading ODBClink|download ODBClink]];
# To start the WinZip self extractor, click '''Install_ODBClink...exe''' and choose '''Run'''. It may be located at the bottom of your Browser;
# On the '''Winzip Self Extractor - Install_ODBClink...exe''' form, click '''Unzip''';
# Click '''OK''' once the unzip is successful;
# On the '''Welcome to ODBClink...''' window, read the User License Agreement and '''tick the checkbox''' if you accept them, then click '''Next''';
# Tick the '''Upgrade Installation''' checkbox and then click '''Next''';
# Confirm that you are upgrading the correct version and if not click '''Select''' to choose the old version of ODBClink and then click '''Next''';
# If upgrading from very old versions of ODBClink, enter a name for your organisation which will be used as the name of the [[Workspaces|workspace]];
# '''Tick or untick''' the reports to confirm which ones to upgrade, then click '''Next''';
# '''Tick or untick''' the data warehouses to confirm which ones to upgrade, then click '''Install''';
# Once the installation is complete click '''Start'''.

=== Notes ===
* Older users of ODBClink may need to manually download the latest version as the check for upgrade functionality was not available.

* The upgrade process only needs to be done by a single user if installed in a shared location that others can access.

Jeff: /* How to set up Auto Upload */

== Overview ==

Auto Upload is a function that runs the [[Get Data]] process on a schedule. The main purpose of Auto Upload is to remove the manual running of the [[Get Data]] process and to move the processing to a non-productive time such as overnight.

== Prerequisits ==

Before setting up auto upload action the following steps first

==== Enable Workspaces for Auto Upload ====
Make sure that each workspace you wish to run is enabled for Auto Upload

To do this, go back to the Main Menu, click Workspace, then edit your workspace and make sure the Enable Auto Uplaod is ticked

==== Test the Auto Upload can be run manually ====

Test the Auto Upload manually to ensure it is running correctly. For more information, see [[Test the Auto Upload can be run manually]].

== How to set up Auto Upload ==

To setup Auto Upload, please follow these instructions. Note that these instructions are dependant on the version of windows you run and may vary slightly. It is also highly recommended that you get your IT personnel to setup the scheduled task.

# Click '''Start''', then '''Control Panel''', then '''Administrative Tools''', then '''Task Scheduler''';
# In the Task Scheduler form, select '''Create Basic Task''';
# Enter a '''Name''' for the task (for example ODBClink Get Data) and click '''Next''';
# In the Task Trigger form, select the '''period''' for the Auto Upload to occur and click '''Next''';
# In the Daily form, enter the '''Start date and time''' that the first Auto Upload will occur and click '''Next''';
# In the Action form, select '''Start a program''' and click '''Next''';
# In the Start a Program form, click '''Browse…''' and select the '''AddonsLink.GetData.exe''' file in the ODBClink System folder and click '''Open'''. The path will display in the Program/script field. Click '''Next''';
# In the Summary form, select '''Open the Properties dialog for this task when I click Finish''' and click '''Finish''';
# In the General tab, select '''Run whether user is logged on or not'''. If you do not have Administrator rights then click '''Change User or Group…''' and change the user to be the Administrator. Click the '''Actions''' tab;
# In the Settings tab, tick the checkbox '''Stop the task if it runs longer than:''' and choose '''2 hours''' in the dropdown next to it;
# In the Settings tab, tick the checkbox '''If the running task does not end when requested, force it to stop''';
# In the Actions tab, click Edit;
# In the Program/script field, ensure that the path is a UNC path and not a mapped drive. A UNC path begins with the server name. Click '''OK''' to close the Edit Action dialog box and click OK to close the Properties dialog box. Enter your password if required.
# To test the Auto Upload process, select '''Task Scheduler Library''' to the left of the Task Scheduler form. Select the Auto Upload task and click '''Run'''.

=== Notes ===

* When choosing a time to run the auto upload process, ensure your chosen time does not conflict with backups or other system processes.

* When browsing to the '''AddonsLink.GetData.exe''' file, ensure that the path is a UNC path and not a mapped drive. A UNC path begins with the server name.

* For older versions of ODBClink, you will need to browse to the '''Excel.exe''' and include the UNC path to the '''AutoUpload.xls''' file located in the system folder.

== Test the Auto Upload Scheduled Task is configured correctly ==

Once the Auto Upload Scheduled tasks is configured, we recommend you test it. For more information, see [[Test the Auto Upload Scheduled Task is configured correctly]].

== Troubleshooting the Auto Upload Scheduled Task ==

If the Auto Upload scheduled task does not run or does not finish, see [[Troubleshooting Auto Upload Problems]].

== Overview ==
ODBClink extracts data from MYOB AccountRight Live as pages of xml data. Originally, the instruction to MYOB included a date filter which restricted data by year. Overtime we found that by restricting data further by month resolved some MYOB API Server issues, so we made the call to change the default filter to monthly. The unintentional consequence of this change is that it has slowed the get data down for some data files. If this is the case for you then follow the steps below to convert the get data date filter algorithm from Monthly to Yearly

== Procedure ==
# Start Windows Explorer
# Navigate to the ODBClink\[Current Version]\Resources\Data Files\Interfaces\MYOX
ODBClink extracts data from MYOB AccountRight Live as pages of xml data. Originally, ODBClink's instruction to MYOB included a date filter which restricted data by year. Overtime we found that by restricting data further by month resolved some MYOB API Server issues, so we made the call to change the default filter to monthly. The unintentional consequence of this change is that it has slowed the get data down for some data files. OBClink (Standard & Pro Editions) have a the ability to can download data up to 10 financial years into the past and future.
The option is configurable because the trade off of extracting more data is the increase in time the get data takes and so best practise is to only choose the years which contain data you actually need. The default is 1 year history and 1 year into the future based on the the current date. The date rolls forward on 3 months past the end of the financial year. ie if the date is 13Aug20 the financial year will be considered 2020. When the date roles to 1Oct20 then the current financial year will be considered 2021

==Overview==

The archiving algorithm allows for historical transactions to be stored and for the Get data to only pull transactions which could have changed. The benefits are that it makes the Get Data process run faster and it allows reporting on purged transactions

==Procedure==
[[File:Data_File_Setup_Options.png|300px|thumb|right|Archiving]]

You can either setup during uploading the data file or any time later.

If you have uploaded the data file already. Please follow the below process for archiving.

* From the BudgetLink Sales Pivot menu Go to 30.Settings/Data Files.

* Click Manage Data Files button.

* From the pop out select the data file you will need to archive and click on edit data file.

* In the data file setup dialogue to the bottom of the window.

* Under Get Data Options click the dropdown. You will see the below options.
