Troubleshooting the MYOB ODBC driver

Overview

In order for BudgetLink to connect to your MYOB data file correctly, the MYOB ODBC Driver must be installed and working correctly. This applies to MYOB AccountRight Classic but does not apply to MYOB AccountRight Live.

In order for the MYOB ODBC Driver to function correctly, some components must be configured correctly on your machine. In most situations, these components are installed and there are no problems. If problems are experienced then please follow the steps below for troubleshooting instructions

Specific ODBC Connection Error Messages

If you received any of the following error messages then click the error link for instructions on how to resolve it

BudgetLink could not find a valid ODBC Driver to connect to the (MYOB Data File Name) data file

Test the MYOB ODBC driver using the TestConnection tool from MYOB

Typically the first thing to check is is that the MYOB ODBC Driver is installed and running correctly. To do this MYOB provide a TestConnection utility that can be used to test and see if the MYOB ODBC driver is installed and running correctly. Install the MYOB ODBC driver

The MYOB ODBC driver must be installed in order for third-party software to connect to your MYOB Classic data file. For more information, see Installing the MYOB ODBC driver.

Verify and Optimise your Data File

Most errors relating to the MYOB ODBC driver can be resolved by verifying and optimising your data file. For more information, see Verifying and Optimising your MYOB Data File.

Check File and Folder Access Requirements
