Formatting Reports

Overview

The formatting of all values and text in BudgetLink reports has been set to defaults that can be easily changed by the user. For example, no decimal places are displayed for values by default, but this can be modified to display two decimal places if desired.

The following styles have been used to apply the formatting to different components of the reports.

  • BLReportTitle
  • BLReportFilter
  • BLReportHeader
  • BLAccountName
  • BLSubTotalName
  • BLValue
  • BLVarianceValue
  • BLVariancePercentage
  • BLValueSubTotal
  • BLVarianceSubTotal
  • BLVariancePercentageSubTotal
  • BLComments

How to edit styles in BudgetLink running on Microsoft Excel

Follow these instructions to edit the styles of report. Please note that BudgetLink simply leverages what Microsoft Excel provides as standard functionality. As such, these steps can be used for any Excel spreadsheet.

  1. Click Cell Styles in the Styles section of the Home tab;
  2. Right click on the desired style name;
  3. Click Modify;
  4. Click Format'
  5. Update the style as required and click OK;
  6. Save the report by clicking on the File Menu, choosing Save, then choosing Update when prompted.

Ensure that you only modify elements that are included in the selected style.

Notes

  • The report must be saved to ensure that the changes are applied the next time the report is opened. From the File menu click Save and then click Update to save the template structure.
  • Changing report formatting as described above will only affect the display of values and text in the selected report. There is functionality available that will enable you to change the display of values and text in all of your standard reports at once. Please contact Accounting Addons for more information.
