Share or Run on Terminal Server or Virtual Machine

OVERVIEW
If sharing or accessing our software solutions remotely on virtual machines or “hosted in the cloud” there are some licensing restrictions which may impact the choice of Edition you need to subscribe to.

Guidelines:
By using our software solutions ”remotely” or ”hosted on the cloud” we mean, where our software solution is Not installed on the local PC, and Not installed on a shared local network drive.

From your perspective, using a software ”remotely” or ”hosted on the cloud”, typically means you run a remote services or virtual machines software from your computer to access and use our software.
TIP: If you are using Remote Desktop connection to access your solution then its probably installed on a Terminal Server. Check with your IT person for confirmation.

Examples of common software for remote services or virtual machines include, but are not limited to, these:

  • Remote Desktop (to access a server)
  • Terminal Services
  • Citrix Server
  • Parallels RAS
  • Parallels Desktop (Virtual Machine – Windows emulator for MAC)
  • VMWare Fusion (Virtual Machine – Windows emulator for MAC)
  • Azure-hosted (portal accessed via browser to Microsoft Azure Services cloud platform)
  • AWS-hosted portal (portal access via browser to Amazon Web Services cloud platform)
  • others…

Our Licensing:
To use a software ”remotely” or ”on a virtual machines” or ”hosted on the cloud”, you will require the Pro Editions (or higher) of our software solutions.

If you intend to install our software on your local PC, and/or on a shared local network drive, you may choose from Standard Editions, Pro Editions (or higher) of our software solutions.

If you intend to use our software on a synchronised folder (eg. SharePoint Server, Dropbox or OneDrive) on your local PC you may choose from Standard Editions, Pro Editions (or higher) of our software solutions.
